Admissions Policy

Applicants to the fulltime hairdressing program at Hair Art Academy are required to provide proof of identity and educational background (i.e. photo ID and confirmation that they have Grade 12 or mature student status). This material must become part of their file.

All applicants will be personally interviewed prior to acceptance into the program.  The interviewer will seek to determine applicant’s motivation and long-term goals, and ensure that these align with Hair Art Academy’s mission statement. This meeting  is also to acquaint the prospective student with the atmosphere, the mission statement and the rules and the regulations of the school.

In the case of applicants seeking government funding, interviewer shall be sensitive to the possibility of misrepresentation (i.e. of applicants who wish to receive grants or loans but don’t really plan to attend school and receive training).

Applicants may not be discriminated against on the basis of race, religion, gender, colour, sexual preference, physical challenges, or any other discriminatory factor prohibited by law.

Prior learning assessment may be applicable for ESL students; therefore an English Comprehensive Exam is strongly suggested.
